That magical time of year is upon us once again, Gay Pride 2011! Here’s a summary of the exciting events happening for ladies around the city.
WEHO Dyke March – Friday June 10 – Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards | 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. | Free – Join West Side Dykes as they parade through the heart of West Hollywood.
Purple Party in the West Hollywood Park – Friday June 10 – 5 – 7:30 p.m. | Free – The inaugural Pride event, “paying homage to the ‘L’ of LGBT,” features a Happy Hour with specially priced Bacardi beverages, live music and food trucks. Participating eateries include the Sweets Truck, Border Grill, Kogi, Grilled Cheese and Nom Nom. The cast of Showtime’s The Real L Word will be making a special appearance around 8 p.m.
Dyke Day LA – Saturday June 11 – Annual Lesbian BBQ in Barnsdall Art Park. All ages and Free. Featuring DJ’s Nova Jade, Automaton, Miss Kim and Baby D.
Pride Festival – West Hollywood Park – Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12 – $20 each day – Saturday features America’s Got Talent winner Prince Poppycock takes the Mainstage Dance Pavilion at 6:30 p.m., followed by dance music artist CeCe Peniston at 7 p.m. and Grammy Award-winning artist Mya at 9 p.m. | Sunday features Margaret Cho and Estelle.
Pride March – Sunday June 12 – Free – Two-time Olympian and World medalist Johnny Weir as Grand Marshal. Kicking off at 11 a.m., an anticipated 400,000 revelers will travel westbound along Santa Monica Boulevard from Crescent Heights Boulevard to the main entrance of the LA PRIDE Festival at San Vicente Boulevard.
DJ Collectives French Kiss de Kutt and Booby Trap have been trotting around the globe for the past 10 years, giving lesbians an alternative night of art, electronic music, and multimedia.
This sunday, French Kiss is celebrating their first Anniversary at Akbar in Los Angeles with the legendary Booby Trap girls.
Expect a full house, as French Kiss and the Trappers are taking over both dance rooms!!!
